Protection Assistant (2 positions) - Ninawa (Sinjar)

Context/Reporting line:
IOM Iraq Protection Division (PxD) serves the protection needs of migrants, crisis-affected population and community members in vulnerable situation and supports national actors to reinforce the capacity to protect individuals from violation of human rights, especially in light of the transition from humanitarian to development, with increased focus on empowering local actors and civil societies to implement protection.
Under the general guidance of the Protection Coordinator, the overall supervision of the Protection Officer, the administrative supervision of the Head of Sub Office (HoSO) and the direct supervision of the Senior Protection Assistant, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

Core Functions / Responsibilities
1. Assist in the timely and effective implementation of protection activities supporting the identification and analysis of protection risks in targeted communities.
2. Provide comprehensive case management services in accordance with IOM guidelines and SOPs.
3. Work closely with implementing partners, local authorities, area representatives and other stakeholders to identify areas, activities, and topics for IOM’s community-based protection interventions.
4. Support in the implementation of community-based protection activities in areas of focus in coordination with key stakeholders.
5. Organize and conduct community outreach activities in areas of focus.
6. Conduct protection monitoring, collect high quality information through direct observation, focus group and community discussions, and key informant interviews in accordance with IOM’s guidelines and SOPs.
7. Maintain and update electronic databases and records for each client and keep detailed notes of all casework activities.
8. Support the development of referral service mapping. Collect information on access to services and provide regular updates on changes to services available.
9. Perform any other tasks assigned as per need.
