UNAMITransport Assistant G6-Baghdad
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the Supervision of the Chief Transport Officer, the incumbents will be responsible for the following duties:
• Provides procurement, logistical and administrative support to a team of Procurement Officers in the acquisition of a wide variety of goods and services.
• Reviews, records, and prioritizes purchasing requests and obtains additional information / documentation as required; determines the availability of vendors and funding sources.
• Monitors the UN-owned vehicle fleet and associated assets via a combination of electronic inventory management and periodic condition assessment.
• Receives and distributes vehicles and equipment to the various mission offices, in accordance with the relevant mission procedures, and in conjunction with a team of Sector Motor Transport Officers.
• Conducts physical inspections and ‘spot checks’ ensuring the accuracy of inventory records and detecting damage and losses.
• Compiles periodic reports and documentation regarding fleet status and deployment.
• May be required to assist as technical expert to COE equipment safety inspections and draft reports for the Fleet manger regarding unsafe vehicles for onward transmission to the Chiefs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Job Specific Qualifications: Valid driving license for “C” category is required. (a copy of valid driving license should be attached).
Training certificate in Transport, Fleet management, logistics and related field is desirable.
Experience: At least seven (07) years of progressively responsible experience in transport operations management, the maintenance of motor vehicles, heavy/specialized transport equipment, plants, and/or Mechanized Handling Equipment (MHE) is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to 5 for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
At least Five (5) years experience in the installation of carlog and in the refurbishment of Armored 4x4 vehicles is desirable.
Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this
position, fluency in English and Arabic is required.
