SRSG strongly condemns string of bombings throughout Baghdad

Baghdad-6 April 2009- The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Iraq (SRSG), Staffan de Mistura, strongly condemned the string of bombings that targeted many of Baghdad’s neighborhoods today, killing dozens of innocent civilians and injuring many more including women and children.

While recognizing the magnitude of today\'s killings, Mr. de Mistura expressed his confidence that, "the overwhelming majority of the Iraqi people renounce violence and will continue dialogue leading to stability and improved security".

The SRSG extends the United Nations’ sincere condolences to the bereaved families and its wishes for the full and speedy recovery for the wounded.
