SRSG Ad Melkert Wishes Iraqi Christians and all Iraqis a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

He notes the United Nations\' deep appreciation to the important role Iraq\'s Christian have historically played in maintaining Iraq\'s unique and rich societal fabric, and their continued contribution to preserving  the country\'s unity in the face of adversity.    Mr. Melkert said, "Iraqi religious, and ethnic minorities are not only an integral part of Iraqi society, but they are a critical component in shaping the future of the country.”
