UNAMI Human Rights Office meeting convenes to discuss draft law on cybercrimes

Baghdad, 7 January 2021 – UNAMI Human Rights Office met with Civil Society representatives and journalists to discuss the draft law on cybercrimes currently pending before the Council of Representatives.

The technical level meeting was carried out in line with UNAMI’s mandate to promote human rights and its ongoing work related to the protection of human rights in the online space. Discussion focused on the potential human rights implications of the bill. The UNAMI Human Rights Office will share a written input with the Council of Representatives highlighting the key topics raised in the meeting as well as its own human rights-related observations and written submissions prepared by the attendees.
