Human Rights Office has conducted a training in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq for teachers
Erbil/Sulaymaniyah, 19 October 2017 - The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) Human Rights Office has conducted a training in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq for teachers to enhance their capacity on teaching human rights in schools.
The training, part of a series of activities to promote awareness on human rights, provide technical support and enhance capacities, took place in Sulaymaniyah on 16-19 October, and involved 25 teachers of Arabic language, Religious Education and Human Rights, from secondary schools in Garmiyan district (Kalar, Kifri and Khanaqin).
The training focused on developing teachers’ expertise with regard to human rights concepts, terminologies as well as their developments, women rights, children rights, methods of teaching and ways of preparing lessons on human rights values and principles.
This training is part of the training programme - Technical and Substantive Issues Pertaining to Human Rights Education - for teachers in Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Duhok Governorates. It was conducted in cooperation with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq’s Ministry of Education, United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and the European Union.
