SRSG Kubiš sends out Easter greetings to Iraqi Christians

16 April 2017

Baghdad, 16 April 2017 – The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (SRSG) for Iraq, Mr. Ján Kubiš, extends his greetings and best wishes to the Christian community in Iraq on the occasion of Easter.

“This year, Easter has a special significance. Apart from the fact that all Christian denominations are celebrating it on the same day; it is the first time since the terrorists occupied parts of Iraq that many Christian communities are celebrating in liberated areas: areas that they themselves actively participated in their liberation,” Mr. Kubiš said.

“I extend my greetings and best wishes to all Christians in Iraq and hope that next year they will celebrate, together with all Iraqis, in a country that is fully liberated from the terrorists,” SRSG Kubiš added.
