SRSG Martin Kobler Meets with Iraq President Jalal Talabani

Baghdad, 11 October 2011- The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (SRSG) and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), Mr. Martin Kobler was received today by H.E. Jalal Talabani, the President of the Republic of Iraq.

SRSG Kobler expressed his gratitude to the President for the warm reception and reiterated the commitment of UNAMI and the United Nations family in Iraq to support Iraq and its people in their quest for sustainable stability, peace and prosperity for all Iraqis.

 

H.E.M Jalal Talabani welcomed SRSG Kobler and wished him success in his tenure.

 

He briefed SRSG Kobler and his delegation on the latest political developments in the country and Iraq’s relations with the neighboring countries.

 

The SRSG was accompanied by Mr. Jerzy Skuratowicz, his Deputy for political affairs, and Ms. Christine McNab, his Deputy for development and humanitarian support and Resident Coordinator/Humanitarian Coordinator.
