Training Programme on “Strengthening Human Rights Monitoring and Documentation Skills for the Secretariat of Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights (IHCHR)”
From 27 to 28 June 2018, the UNAMI Human Rights Office in Baghdad conducted a specialized Training Programme on “Strengthening Human Rights Monitoring and Documentation Skills for the Secretariat of Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights (IHCHR)”. Thirty staff members of the Commission, including ten women in various departments of the Commission, including human rights, women, children, displaced persons and complaints from Baghdad, Najaf, Kirkuk, Karbala, Babel, Salah Alden Diyala, Diwaniya, and Samawa Governorates participated.
The training is part of a series of activities that aims at supporting the Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights to achieve its mandate of promoting and protecting human rights of Iraqis. As part of the outcome of the training, participants recommended more training and various means of enhancing cooperation between the two organisations.
In his closing remarks, the spokesperson of the Commission, Dr. Ali Al-Bayati, emphasized the necessity for continued cooperation between the Commission and UNAMI Human Rights Office and reiterated the IHCHR’s readiness to cooperate fully in future endeavour
