Office of Electoral Assistance delivers training on communication and public outreach for the IHEC staff from Governorate Electoral Offices

For staff of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) in the Governorate Election Offices (GEOs) that are responsible for public outreach and communications.  The training on the topic “Understanding communication and outreach plans and adjustments to the local environment” covered the essential information on awareness and public outreach plans, its adaptation to the local contexts, the development of messages to target different electoral audiences, the importance of conducting a comprehensive campaign and crafting communication and public outreach strategies.  The training provided an opportunity for the IHEC staff in Governorate Election Offices to work together on practical assignments and exercises, developing strategies and timelines for future elections and drafting awareness messages. The training was also an opportunity for GEOs’ staff to analyze the challenges they faced while working under the Public Outreach Department of the IHEC.  For its part, the IHEC Public Outreach Department management used the occasion to discuss the needs and raise ideas to enhance the capacity of the staff for future electoral cycles.
