UN Representative Strongly Condemns Terrorist Bombing in South Baghdad Yousufiyah Area
30 March 2017
Baghdad, 30 March 2017 - The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General (SRSG) for Iraq, Mr. Ján Kubiš, strongly condemns the terrorist bombing in Yousufiyah at Baghdad’s southern entrance late Wednesday, 29 March 2017, in which a number of people were killed or wounded.
The SRSG expresses condolences to the families of the dead and wishes the injured a speedy recovery.
“This heinous attack, the second targeting Baghdad in less than 10 days, was carried out by terrorists with the clear aim to make up for their defeat at the battlefield in Mosul and elsewhere. Despicable acts like these will not weaken the determination of the Iraqi people, who have offered numerous and great sacrifices, to liberate their country from the terrorists,” Mr. Kubiš said.
