IOMNational Project Officer (Health Promotion and Community Health) - Erbil
Context/Reporting line:
Under the overall supervision of the Head, Migration Health Division and the direct supervision of the Migration Health Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for supporting the implementation of health promotion and community health programming, including the management and supervision of a team of Senior Community Health Assistants based in different Governorates.
Core Functions / Responsibilities
1. Responsible for the development and implementation of health promotion and community health components
2. Manage and provide oversight of all Senior Community Health Assistants (SrCHAs)and community health teams.
3. Regularly follow up on implantation of activities and provide advanced technical guidance and feedback to SrCHAs
4. Develop and implement trainings on health promotion topics according to program needs.
5. Coordinate the development and production process of products and reports related to health promotion and community health activities.
6. Develop health promotion material for affected populations based on MHD key messages and community concerns.
7. Facilitate adaptation of material to the local context and translation into local languages.
8. Develop procurement plans and follow up with the operations team to ensure delivery of items to teams in governorates.
9. Develop and design tools and activities that help gather community feedback on MHD’s activities and interventions.
10. Support in coordination and communication efforts with other divisions and health partners to identify rumors, knowledge gaps, and behavior change needs in communities.
11. Develop training reports with recommendations based on lessons learnt and workshops’ evaluation results.
12. Prepare regular reports on health promotion and community health interventions.
13. Archive and document all relevant health promotion and community health material.
14. Undertake travel in Iraq as per MHD needs.
15. Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the migration health officer.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Science or Business Administration from an accredited academic university or institute.
Experience and Skills:
At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
Experience with national or sub-national community support programs.
Experience in community health, health promotion, community-based surveillance or related activities is required.
Strong technical knowledge and proven experience in training and capacity building on health topics
Strong negotiation, networking, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and respect for all people. Ability to work in a multicultural context as a flexible and respectful team manager and team player.
Ability to compile and analyze data to prepare weekly reports, review data for inaccuracies/inconsistencies, and draw conclusions from analyzed data to inform program activities.
Management skills and ability to supervise group of people and follow up with team members on a regular basis based on a set of objectives.
Experience with international non-governmental organizations or UN agencies is required.
Languages:
Fluency in English, Kurdish and Arabic is required.
