SRSG de Mistura Strongly Condemns the Assassination of Harith Al-Ubaidi

Mr. de Mistura described the assassination of Al-Ubaidi as, “Particularly deplorable and a tragic loss as the late Harith Al-Ubaidi was known for his ability to work with all the different groups and political blocs, and who tirelessly worked to ensure the rights of detainees, and the enactment of the Human Rights Commission Law.”

Mr. de Mistura extends the United Nations sincere condolences to the family of Mr. al Ubaidi and the people of Iraq, and urges Iraqi authorities to pursue the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
