UN Workshop Aims at Building Human Rights Reporting Capacity of Civil Society Organizations in Iraq

Erbil, 1 December 2009 - A training workshop provided to Iraqi Civil Society Organizations  (CSOs) on the essential skills for effective human rights reporting took place in Erbil from 21st –  25th November 2009.

23 CSOs from all over Iraq participated in the 5 day training, organized by the Human Rights Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) in coordination with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).



The Project is funded by the Government of Finland and the European Union under the UNDG Iraq Trust Fund.



The training was undertaken in support of the submission of Iraq’s report to the UN Human Rights Council Universal Periodic Review (UPR).



As a follow up to the UPR submission, the project is supporting civil society organizations working in the field of human rights to build capacity in monitoring, reporting and disseminating information on the human rights situation in Iraq.
