SRSG Martin Kobler Meets Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliki

Baghdad, 16 October 2011- The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (SRSG) and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), Mr. Martin Kobler was received today by H.E Nuri Al-Maliki, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq.

SRSG Kobler expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Al-Maliki for the valuable assistance and support provided to UNAMI and the United Nations team in Iraq. He emphasized that the Mission and the UN team are in Iraq to assist the Government and the people of this country.

 

SRSG Kobler noted that the Iraq he came back to is not the one he left in 2007. He indicated he is very much looking forward to cooperating and coordinating closely with Iraqi authorities to assist them in building on and consolidating the achievements that have been made to ensure that Iraq and its people have the future they are aspiring to.
