Human Rights Office of UNAMI, in collaboration with Iraqi Female Journalist Forum, delivered a two-day capacity-building training in Najaf
On 14 and 15 July, the Human Rights Office of UNAMI, in collaboration with Iraqi Female Journalist Forum, delivered a two-day capacity-building training in Najaf for 20 Iraqi journalists (16 women and 4 men) from Najaf governorate. This two-day program is part of a series of five similar trainings planned in five governorates under the UN Human Rights Office's Global Drive for Media Freedom, Access to Information and the Safety of Journalists.
The training aimed at equipping Iraqi journalists with necessary strategies and tools to integrate human rights and gender perspectives into their journalistic reporting and media content, which involves developing an understanding of diverse perspectives, challenges and experiences of women, to ensure accurate and inclusive representation in news and reports.
More broadly, the training contributed to the realization in Iraq of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Goal 5: Gender Equality and Goal 10: Reduce Inequalities, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
