Jalawla – During the ISIL crisis in Iraq, 3.5 million people were displaced from their homes. Since Iraq declared victory over ISIL in December 2017, nearly 1.5 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) have returned to their locations of origin.
Mosul, 19 September 2019 -The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) formally inaugurated its offices in Mosul at a ceremony attended by local government officials, senior UNAMI staff, UN Agencies and partners, establishing a continuing presence in the Ninewa Governorate and pledging to strengthen its support to the local communities and authorities in this period of post-conflict recovery.
