Baghdad, Iraq, 03 December 2016 – The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) has taken note of the statement issued by the War Media Cell of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command, critical of UNAMI’s reporting of military casualty figures that formed part of the Mission’s report on casualty figures for November, issued on 01 December 2016.

Baghdad, Iraq, 24 November 2016 – The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (SRSG) for Iraq, Ján Kubiš, condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist truck bombing near the City of Hilla in the Governorate of Babylon in southern Iraq today which killed or wounded scores of innocent people, many of them reportedly returning from pilgrimage to Karbala.

(Baghdad, 17 November 2016): Today marks one month of intensified military operations to retake the city of Mosul. With tens of thousands of families in newly retaken areas urgently requiring life-saving assistance, the humanitarian community in Iraq faces a massive scope of need.
