Baghdad, 15 December 2015 - The Special Representative of the Secretary General to Iraq, Jan Kubiš, takes note of the reports of withdrawal of Turkish troops from Bashiqa camp following the visit to Baghdad on 10 December 2015 of the Special Envoys of the Turkish Prime Minister Davutoglou, that reconfirmed respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq. The UN Secretary-General has urged all Member States involved in the fight against ISIL in Iraq to do so in a manner that is in line with the Charter of the United Nations and respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq.
Baghdad, 10 December 2015 - The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Iraq and the whole UN family in Iraq today commemorated Human Rights Day, in partnership with the Iraqi Council of Representatives. The theme for this year’s celebration is "Our Rights, Our Freedoms, Always”.
The UNAMI Human Rights Office (HRO) organized a roundtable discussion in Kirkuk on accountability for domestic violence.
