Baghdad, September 2nd, 2024 - The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Iraq, conducted the annual National Project Steering Committee under the project "Sustainable Land Management (SLM) for Improved Livelihoods in Degraded Areas of Iraq," funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and implemented in partnership with the Iraqi Ministries of Environment (MoE), Agriculture (MoA), Water Resources (MoWR) as well as local governments in Thi Qar and Muthana.
The 2023-2024 initiative aims to empower Syrian refugee women at Gawilan Refugee Camp in KRI.
Geneva, Switzerland (ILO News) - With broad participation from Iraq's Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the Parliamentary Labour Committee, and trade unions, the International Labour Organization (ILO) hosted a study visit for the Iraqi delegation. The visit aimed to discuss technical assistance to support Iraq’s efforts in drafting a new trade union law to replace the outdated Law No. 52 of 1987, which is not fully in line with international labour standards ratified by Iraq.

09 September 2024, Baghdad: As the mandate of the United Nations Investigative Team to Promote Accountability for Crimes Committed by Da'esh/ISIL (UNITAD) concludes later this month, the Team has finalized the significant financial and technical support it has provided to relevant forensic institutions across Iraq, including the Mass Graves Directorate (MGD), Medico-Legal Directorate (MLD), and several Iraqi criminal courts. This support has been pivotal in advancing efforts towards ensuring justice and accountability for the victims of ISIL (Da’esh) crimes.
