Baghdad, Iraq – On December 7, 2024, Under the patronage of His Excellency the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani, a significant milestone was achieved in Iraq’s journey toward an inclusive labour market. the Iraqi Federation of Industries (IFI), in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and with the generous support of Italy through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), launched the Iraqi National Network for Employers Interested in Empowering and Employing Persons with Disabilities. The event, hosted at the Iraqi Federation of Industries in Baghdad, marked the beginning of a new chapter in promoting inclusive and accessible work environments for persons with disabilities across Iraq. 

Basra, Iraq – 5th December 2024 - UN-Habitat, in partnership with the European Union and local authorities, hosted a ceremony to mark the official opening of Al Ghadeer Park in Jurf Al Melah, Basra. The park is a key achievement of the project "Increasing Access to Employment Opportunities for Vulnerable Urban Populations in Basra City in Response to the COVID-19 Crisis", which aims to upgrade urban infrastructure in informal settlements, improve the quality of life for residents, enhance access to decent work, and deliver sustainable urban solutions.
