Baghdad, 5 February 2025 –UN Women and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) are pleased to announce a new collaboration to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable women and girls—including internally displaced persons, returnees and host communities in Sinjar, Sinuni, and Al-Amal Centre in Ninawa Province. Building on ongoing efforts to foster social cohesion and enhance women's leadership, this initiative will equip participants with business and technical training in sustainable practices, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. Additionally, women will receive essential resources to support their economic independence and strengthen their role in rebuilding their communities.

Ten years ago, the first International Day of Women and Girls in Science recognized a fundamental truth:
Baghdad– The United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) in Iraq welcomes an additional funding from the Government of Italy, which will contribute to support the Government of Iraq (GoI) to protect civilians from the threat of explosive ordnance (EO) and will enable humanitarian, socio-economic, and reconstruction efforts. The Government of Italy has actively participated in the UNMAS Iraq programme, since 2016.
Baghdad– The United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) in Iraq welcomes a new contribution from the Government of the Slovak Republic and the Governemt of Estonia, in support of humanitarian mine action endeavors in Iraq. Both countrites, Slovakia and Estonia have been a consistent supporter of UNMAS Iraq activities in support of sustainable and efficient explosive hazard management as well as technical and advisory support for Iraqi national mine action authorities.

With the participation of the International Labour Organization (ILO), Iraq's High Committee for Workforce Planning and Employment held its first meeting of 2025 to discuss the final draft of the National Employment Policy for Iraq (2025-2030). This policy aims to promote the creation of sustainable job opportunities, enhance labor market efficiency, and improve working conditions.
