Iraq, Erbil - January 13, 2025, The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Iraq, with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipality and Tourism – Board of Tourism of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), proudly announces the successful completion of the Tourism Enterprise Development Program for women and youth aimed at developing the Tourism sector and empowering women and youth across the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).

Baghdad, 13 January 2025 – Recognizing the critical role civil society plays in promoting women’s empowerment, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (SRSG) for Iraq and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), Dr. Mohamed Al Hassan, met today with members of the Women Advisory Group and representatives of Civil Society Organizations to discuss a number of priorities for Iraqi women and how the UN can support progress on this important file.

Baghdad, 13 January 2025 - The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) welcomes the Council of Representatives' endorsement of the Supreme Judicial Council's decision to extend for two years the mandate of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC)’s Board of Commissioners in the Republic of Iraq.
Baghdad, Iraq – January 15, 2025 – Today, the United Nations in Iraq officially launched the UN Youth Advisory Council (UNYAC), an initiative designed to ensure the active participation of Iraqi youth in shaping UN initiatives, programs, and development efforts in Iraq.
On 16 January 2025, an official ceremony was organized in Baghdad by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) to hand over information technology (IT) equipment to the Iraqi national authorities in charge of registering adult Iraqi nationals seeking to be repatriated from Al Hol Camp located in Northeast Syria.

Basra, 20 January 2025 - The FAO-EU-funded project entitled “Restoration and Strengthening the Resilience of Agri-food Systems in Southern Iraq” is being implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) and local partners. This initiative aims to support smallholder farmers and communities in adapting to climate challenges while improving agricultural productivity and livelihoods.
