Anbar, Iraq; April 10, 2025 — As part of its ongoing efforts to support women’s protection and empowerment in Iraq, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), alongside a delegation from the German Federal Foreign Office, visited the Women’s Protection Center in Anbar. The visit aimed to follow up on the center’s progress and highlight continued international support for services dedicated to vulnerable women and girls.

Diwaniyah, Iraq – 13 April 2025 – The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), with support from the Government of Japan and local authorities in Al-Diwanya Governorate, celebrated today the inauguration of the rehabilitated maternity ward and newly established Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Diwaniyah Specialized Maternity Hospital. This achievement is part of a Japan-funded project aimed at improving access to reproductive health services and providing life-saving care for mothers and newborns.

Sinjar, Iraq – 14 April 2025: In a landmark ceremony held at the Sinjar Municipal Directorate, the Governorate of Ninewa, Municipality of Sinjar, Real Estate Registration Department authorities launched the distribution of 1,338 ownership letters and issued approximately 100 title deeds to Yazidi residents in Dugrey and Tel Uzair Mujama’at. The Yazidis receiving these title deeds are being officially recognized as landowners for the first time in generations.
