SRSG Kubiš extends Ramadan greetings

٢٨ ئایار ٢٠١٧

Baghdad, 28 May 2017 – The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (SRSG), Mr. Ján Kubiš extends his greetings to all the Iraqi people, particularly Muslims on the onset of the Holy month of Ramadan.

“Ramadan is a month of peace, coexistence and reflection. It is a time when people come together and feel the pains of those who are suffering,” said Kubiš.

“At these difficult times, when thousands of Iraqis are dying and are displaced and suffering as a result of the Daesh’s crimes, it is an opportunity for unity and working together for the future of this country,” SRSG Kubiš added.

“But the good news is that the terrorists are being defeated on all fronts. Let us hope that we celebrate the next Ramadan in a country free of terrorism, free of sectarianism and in peace. Ramadan Kareem,” he further added.
