UNAMI welcomes appointment of Ambassador Alhakim as head of ESCWA

Baghdad, 14 April 2017 – The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) welcomes the appointment of Ambassador Mohamed Ali Alhakim, who has served as Permanent Representative of Iraq to the United Nations, as Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission of Western Asia (ESCWA), by The Secretary-General of the United Nations.
This appointment comes as recognition of the important role Iraq plays in the region. UNAMI wishes Ambassador Alhakim success in his new position.
