Launch of the Salah Al-Din Joint Coordination Forum Area-based Response Plan: An initiative to support the IDP returnees from Sulaymaniyah Camps to the Southern Areas of the Governorate

08 August 2024, Tikrit, Iraq – Today, H.E. Ms. Ivan Faeq Jabro, Minister of Migration and Displaced (MoMD), Mr. Badr Al-Fahl, Governor of Salah Al-Din and Mr. Ghulam Mohammad Isaczai, the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Resident Coordinator, and Humanitarian Coordinator (DSRSG/RC/HC) launched the Salah Al-Din Joint Coordination Forum Area-based Response Plan in Tikrit.
The Area-Based Plan reflects the Durable Solutions Roadmap derived from the Government of Iraq's National Plan for facilitating durable solutions for IDPs. It ensures alignment with the government priorities and the Prime Minister’s vision on the IDP file in Iraq, while ensuring compliance with the United Nations Secretary General Action Agenda on Internal Displacement.
"This plan is an important initiative to address the pressing, intermediate, and long-term needs of IDP returning from the Sulaymaniyah camps to the southern areas of Salah al-Din. It is a success story that we hope to replicate in other regions and a testament to the tireless efforts of the JCF," stated Mr. Ghulam Mohammad Isaczai. “The realization of the plan’s objectives will rely on the full commitment and support of both federal and local governments."
Her Excellency Ms. Ivan Jabro highlighted the role of United Nations organizations and the JCF, stating: "The Plan is a result of close cooperation and joint work among various stakeholders, including the local government of Salah Al-Din, United Nations and NGO partners”. She further emphasized the role of international donor partners to support the success of the Plan.
Meanwhile, H.E. Mr. Badr Al-Fahl stated that the JCF members “exerted tremendous efforts to assess the needs of the returnee families and develop a strategic response plan addressing their expectations.”
