Baghdad- 22 April 2009 - Today, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. Staffan de Mistura, presented to the Prime Minister and the members of the Presidency Council of Iraq, as well as the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, reports on the disputed internal boundaries of northern Iraq. This work, which has taken over a year to complete, has been carried out as part of the mandate of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) contained in Security Council resolutions 1770 and 1830.

Baghdad-24 April 2009-The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (SRSG) Staffan de Mistura strongly condemned the horrific back to back bombings in Baghdad on Thursday, 23 April and Friday, 24 April.
Baghdad - 29 April 2009 - The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) issued today its 14th report on the human rights situation in the country covering the period from July to December 2008. The report, produced in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, notes that although the period covered was characterised by further improvements in security, the overall human rights situation in Iraq remains a matter of concern.
Baghdad-21 May 2009- The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (SRSG) Staffan de Mistura strongly condemned the bombings in Baghdad and Kirkuk on Wednesday, 20 May and Thursday 21 May. Mr. de Mistura described these attacks which resulted in the death and injury of dozens of innocent Iraqi citizens, as “reprehensible crimes that have indiscriminately targeted ordinary Iraqis".”
Baghdad-10 June 2009- The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Iraq (SRSG) Staffan de Mistura condemned in the strongest terms the car bombing in Nasiriyah on Wednesday 10 June 2009 which left more than 35 people dead and scores of others wounded. Mr. de Mistura described the bombing as, “A cruel crime against innocent civilians that aims to derail Iraq’s stability.”
Baghdad-Friday, 12 June 2009-The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq (SRSG) Staffan de Mistura condemned in the strongest terms the shocking assassination of Harith Al-Ubaidi, head of the Accordance Front-Al Tawaffuq in the Iraqi council of Representatives.
Baghdad-15 June 2009-The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Iraq (SRSG) Staffan de Mistura leaves Baghdad after almost two years as the United Nations’ top official in Iraq and will be taking up his new assignment as Deputy Executive Director of the World Food Programme of the UN, where he will continue to take a close interest in matters dealing with the Middle East region, including Iraq.
Baghdad-17 June 2009- The Iraqi Council of Representatives (CoR) and the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) organized a two day conference in Baghdad titled ‘The Future of Iraq’ dedicated to the discussion of hydrocarbon revenue and water sharing. The conference, held on 14-15 June, was made possible with logistical support by UNOPS and funding from the European Union. This event was a continuation of previously held roundtable-discussions on federalism and hydrocarbon resources management that were held in Baghdad and Erbil between July 2008 and April 2009.
