UNAMI Welcomes IHEC’s 01 September Decision Concerning Procedures of Forming Political Alliances

Baghdad, Iraq, 2 September 2018 – The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) welcomes the IHEC decision on 1 September 2018 to rescind its previous ruling issued on 27 August 2018 concerning procedures of forming political (parliamentary) alliances.

The 01 September decision brings back the situation in conformity with the valid legislation, notably with Article 4 of the third amendment of the Election Law No. 45 of 2013 and the verdict of the Federal Supreme Court (No. 25/FSC/2010) on the law of 25 March 2010.
