Today as we celebrate the International Volunteer Day.
Let us all recognize and honor the incredible contributions of volunteers across the world, and especially here in Iraq.
To every volunteer who gives their time, energy, and heart to support others— you are an inspiration to us all.
Across Iraq, volunteers are driving impactful change on multiple fronts. Every year, local volunteers provide assistance to thousands of pilgrims in Karbala on the ground and through online volunteers. In other cases, young volunteers are leading tree-planting campaigns and sharing information to combat the negative impact of climate change. These are just two examples of how volunteers are making a difference in Iraqi society.
Today, we honor all volunteers, who roll up your sleeves and make a difference.
Whether through small acts or large initiatives, every action you take makes a difference.
You are not just building a better tomorrow. You are making life better for people today.
On behalf of the United Nations in Iraq, I want to thank each and every volunteer in Iraq and encourage you to become a volunteer by sharing your time, your skills, and your kindness; because every small act counts.
Let us honor the spirit of volunteerism, not only today, but every day.
