PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES AND THEIR REPRESENTATIVE ORGANIZATIONS IN IRAQ: BARRIERS, CHALLENGES, AND PRIORITIES

Persons with disabilities in Iraq have been disproportionately impacted by war, armed conflict, terrorism, violence and the eco-nomic hardship. Iraq has one of the largest populations of persons with disabilities in the world. Despite this, and certain efforts by key stakeholders in country, there has been little consultation among persons with disabilities and their representative groups by government and humanitarian and development agencies. Persons with disabilities and the organisations that represent them are the best qualified to provide information on the challenges they experience.
